Lesson A Labs

 (May 23)

OBJECTIVE(S)

(1) Use specific tests

 LESSON & ASSIGNMENT

D block:  (1) Students finish testing unknown white powder mixtures to identify what they are made of.  (2) Hand in table showing original "known" powder tests. (3) Hand in record of "unknown powder" tests in neat organized and informative way (flowchart or table or etc.) (4) Make "summary" showing what white powder is found in each unknown (can be done as table or list.) (5) Test four metals to determine their relative electronegativity:  which metal give electrons and which metal takes electrons.  Record the data as a current measurement in milliamps (mA) using multimeter.  Submit paper at end of class.

Assignment:   Students should make a single flowchart - a master flowchart - which can be used to help identify each of the 5 white powders IF you are given a new unknown to work with.  Due Monday.
